<p>DS is junior at CMU/SCS and CIT while DD1 is junior at NU in Neuro aiming to go to med school. Each will swear by his/her institution, but DS seems to have done better in progressing towards his goals. DD insists NU is the best, but we were all a bit disappointed in her career steps, but can’t tell how much of that we can attribute to NU. She appears to have had to take a lot more non-science courses as compared to my S at CMU.</p>
<p>There is just no comparison between the schools where chemistry is concerned. Northwestern’s department is consistently top 10 ranked (#7 in last US News), CMU’s is simply not a player in this league (#49). NU’s also gets incredible support from one of the nation’s strongest cutting edge nanotech programs.</p>
<p>Chicago vs. Pittsburgh, Big 10 vs. D3, more tech-centric school vs. diverse university offerings, only your hairdresser knows for sure.</p>
