Northwestern

Northwestern is my top choice but I’m not confident in my chances. Please let me know!
I’m a white female and I go to a rigorous Catholic Prep School (1500 students). I’m leaning towards Political Science and International Relations but I’m also looking into Engineering.
GPA: 3.7 unweighted
4.0 weighted
SAT:
Math- 740
CR- 710

Classes:
Freshman- Honors Geometry, Honors World Geo, AP/Advanced Algebra 2, Honors English, Honors Bio, Spanish 1
Sophomore- AP/Advanced Precal, AP World History, Honors Chem, Spanish 2
Junior: AP Spanish 3, Honors Physics, APUSHAP BC Calculus
Senior: AP Calc 3, AP Linear Algebra, AP Chem, possible AP history class and possible AP Stats class
I dropped off the Advanced English track to focus more on Math/Science
Extracurriculars: Crew (Rowing) 4 years
Mu Alpha Theta
National English Honors Society
Founder of Healthy Living Club

I was one of 9 students in my grade of 350 to be selected to take the advanced math track.

I don’t get the best grades in my honors and advanced classes but I would rather take classes that challenge me instead of taking an easy one to get a higher grade.

I’m going on a Volunteer Trip to Cambodia and also volunteering on Bernie Sanders’ campaign this year. I also do my volunteer hours with a refugee organization teaching them English and computer skills.

Apply ED if you want to have any kind of chance. Otherwise, you have no shot RD. If you apply ED, and show a lot of interest then you could get in. Your GPA and SAT is a bit on the low side though. Good luck anyway!

Yeah I agree with the above post. You have no shot RD; ED maybe. I would try to improve that SAT 1600 score 50+ points if possible. Your GPA is a bit on the low side, but you do have a solid course load. One thing that will hurt you is your extracurriculars, which have absolutely nothing to do with International Relations/Political science (volunteering on Bernie Sanders’ campaign is too vague to be enough to convince me). I would say ED you’re a high reach/crapshoot. Please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1796275-what-do-you-think-of-my-chances-are-at-these-universities.html#latest Good luck!
