I got this letter saying that Cornell isn’t able to consider FA at this time. Did anyone else get this?

So anyone know why Cornell isn’t able to consider FA at this time? They said that they won’t be able to consider it until next March…

Is it perhaps because I submitted my stuff late? But if that’s the case, then they could probably consider my FA stuff as soon as I submit them… not March.

They’ve already budgeted their monies for ED students, and you will have to wait to be considered a part of the financial aid pool for RD students, I’m assuming.

If so, they are probably waiting to see what kind of international applicants they admit during RD to see who they want the most, and give them the available financial aid.

Oh, and just curious, did they ask internationals for quarter grades too or is it just for US people? And they asked for quarter grades regardless whether you’re in a trimester or semester system, right?

I got the exact same letter. It also talks about being released from the Early Decision Commitment. I want to ask, when you are released from the Early Decision Commitment, does it mean that you reject the offer right away or that you would be able to choose to accept it or reject Cornell after the decision for FA is told?

I am international, too. Just for the curiosity, I wonder if any international did not get this?

I think (or hoping lol) it means that you’re still able to accept the offer in March after you release yourself from ED.

Haha… this is like EA, except with all the advantages of ED lol Or maybe Cornell already knew that this would happen when they were admitting people so they held up higher standards.

Though I’m really not sure, so if anyone could clarify, that would be awesome.
