not another ivy obsessed teen.

Hello everyone! I’m currently a 16 year old junior, a few months shy of being a senior. My Ivy-obsessed friends along with additional pushes from Ivy-obsessed teachers has fully made me want to rebel against the standards that are put on the students in my town–not just for the sake of my own mutiny, but because I honestly believe that the Ivies just aren’t for me. I’ve found schools with great honors colleges that I feel would do wonders for me. That being said, I’m asking you to chance me…at schools that, for once, AREN’T Ivy, top ten or anything of the sort. I get lots of crap from people think that I’m aiming “too low”, and when I tell them that I’m aiming to get into honors colleges they look at me like I have two heads.

Anyway, here are my stats:
Female, half African American and half Native American (with proof of background), residing in Suburbia, New Jersey. My geographical location is extremely boring.
GPA: 3.5 unweighted, 4.75 unweighted.
SAT: 1860/2400, 1240/1600. Not considering retaking, haven’t taken the ACT.
Top 15% of my high school class of close to 600 students.
Largest high school in my district, called “competitive” by local admins but I beg to differ.
APs taken so far: US History (3), Language and Composition (3), Psychology (4).
Future APs for senior year: European History, Literature and Composition, German, Human Geography.
Since freshman year, I’ve been in all honors except math.
I’m aiming to major in education, specifically elementary education.

Work Experience:
An after school daycare counselor at my former elementary school for two months, currently holding two jobs (as a sales associate in a children’s clothing store and a party runner at a children’s party planning center).

ECs:
National Honor Society - going on 2 years
National German Honor Society - going on 3 years
German Club - going on 4 years
History Club - going on 3 years, currently the secretary.
