My scores on my last practice SAT were something around 670V/780M/690W(based on MC) . My SAT II (IIC and Chem) are both 800's.

I can definetly get great rec's and good essays.

I'm just looking around at different colleges right now. I'm thinking of majoring in somthing like biochem. How do I stand as a candidate to schools like Harvard, MIT, Caltech, Darmouth, and any other goods ones you may know.

Thanks in advance

Bump, please

Well if you wont tell me my chances could you at least tell me how I could make more people respond to my threads?

Harvard reach
MIT reach
Caltech reach
Darmouth slight reach

that is while ignoring the fact that you go to philips. I have no idea how that effects your admissions but i do know that tons of ppl there get into the ivys

what do you think i have the most room to improve in?

You will be compared with students from your school. (mostly gpa)
Can you get good recs?

Yes, I would agree on GPA - I am confused about how it works but 4.58/6 doesnt seem so great, I could be just misunderstanding the system..whats your class rank. If its over the 25% mark then I would have to reevaluate for sure.

How did you get 4.58, I have only gotten 2 4's with many more 5's and 6's. Also, the GPA is not weighted. My GPA last year was 5.5, putting me in the top 15%.

And yes, I think I can get great rec's.

sorry quoted the wrong number. your class rank is OK. I guess my ratings still stand, but are based on someone going to an average public high school. Not really sure but i'd guess that going to philips helps you out a fair amount.

How much of a factor do you think going to Phillips will be? Enough to make any of them a match?

^Probably. My parents almost sent me there, but I refused b/c Harkness is crap.

By the end of junior year if you can move up to top 10% that would help you alot with Harvard and MIT.
Also try to break 700 for critical reading that would help.

Well, english is not my first language. Do you think I should take TOEFL?

And ssnack, which ones do you think will become matches?

I think you have a good chance at any of them besides Caltech, because they aren't normally as impressed by prestigious high schools as the others you mentioned.

Thanks. What about TOEFL?

BTW, I'm going to apply to RSI and SSP. Any info on my chances for those would be appreciated.

mathwiz, the best person to talk to would be your guidance counselor. he/she should have reports with the GPA and SAT of those admitted to the Ivies and similar schools. You could take a look at that and see where you fall.

What about for RSI and SSP? I don't think any schools keep track of that info.

bump, anyone?

I don't like doing this, but bump.

Could anyone tell me my chances for RSI and SSP? Also further info on these schools or recommendations about other schools would be appreciated. Thanks.

is ssp that harvard summer thing? if thats wut ur referring to, you'll get in
