Not attending the SAT

I am a Canadian student who wanted to study in the states. I took the ACT and started on the common application, but recently my enthusiasm has died. The problem is that I’ve already paid for SAT2 subject tests. Should I even go to the exam if I’m 100% certain that I want to stay in Canada? I’m also in IB, so I’d rather spend time working on my IAs and EE.

My three options are:

study to get a good score and take the subject tests

don’t waste time studying, but take the tests anyways

don’t even bother showing up

My mom wants me to go anyways, since it’s already been paid for. Will taking the test unprepared (and scoring badly) hinder me at all?

I would not take any test unprepared. If you don’t need them, there is not a reason to take them but “need” can sometimes be supplied by a parent’s insistence and ultimately this an issue you should discuss with your mom. Note that if you intend to apply to McGill, be aware that it does require subject tests.
