I turned down some extraordinary private schools to attend a top southern public school but I can’t seem to integrate into the atmosphere here. I’ve been here two and a half months and I have only two people that I hang out with. I’ve met a lot of people but I find it’s hard to form a group that does stuff together. For the first couple weeks of school I would text like 10-15 people every weekend to try to hang out but people never responded. Eating in the dining hall alone gets old after a while when you see everyone else with their friends.

Does anybody have any tips? Should I stick it out or try to transfer somewhere?

College kids don’t like to commit to doing anything until the last second so your grand plans of getting a definite group of kids together is futile.
Text friends to join you at group activities like rock climbing, conditioning class, volunteering at community animal shelters, intramural sports and if they don’t show up you can meet new people who share like interests.

I’m afraid to do any physical activities that might make me sweat because I had an operation in a sensitive area back in July and it never fully healed. I’m already self conscious about smelling bad because of the issue. I was going to do intramurals but I decided against it because of this.
