Not enough time?

I was wondering how much time there is to buy school supplies and other necessities like soap/lotion, etc. It seems like we aren’t going to have much time to do that during orientation because we will be so busy. (and don’t parents leave after the first day?) I don’t want to buy so much stuff that my room is crowded. Could anyone give a good estimate about how much time there will be to purchase items once I have seem my dorm on the 19th? (oh, I’m flying from NY and don’t want to carry much with me).

You can buy school supplies at the bookstore right on campus on the first day of classes if necessary, although the lines will be horrendous. I would also bring bathroom supplies like soap and toothpaste, because you never know when you’ll have a chance to get those. On the other hand, you could also go to Tresidder Express, which is a convenience store on campus.

yeah might as well hit up tresidder, it’s right on campus and it has everything. and it’s right next to the jamba juice. correct me if i’m wrong…i haven’t been to the student union for quite a bit

That’s right, next to the Jamba Juice.

You’ll have plenty of time.

You’ll realize that a) you don’t have to go to every NSO event and b) even if you do, there’s still plenty of time.

Although I recommend that you bring your soaps and lotions, etc., with you when you arrive. That makes the pressing need of getting out to buy notebooks much less.

very true. seriously, NSO events aren’t THAT important. if i could do it over, i would only go to the ones where there were performances by groups on campus. everything else is just kind of boring and not necessary. the best thing about the events is that you meet a lot of people, but you don’t really learn anything. so don’t feel obliged to go to everything. if you’re tired, sleep in. seriously. just chill that week.

i would’ve have also gone to san fran one of the days with some people. damn…why can’t i be a freshman again. haha.

TresEx is expensive; if you need a lot of things, you might want to consider taking the Marguerite to Target. But that route (shopping express, get off at the very last stop) only runs afternoons on weekdays (all day on weekends).

And it’s very feasible to get stuff during NSO. That’s what I had to do. You’ll find that things slow down a bit after the first couple of days, and there are a lot more skippable events. Just don’t plan on going Saturday afternoon–there’s a football game during NSO this year.

what? really. damn, you freshman got all three books mailed to you, and now you have a football game to enjoy during NSO. i hate you guys.

I’m planning to go a day before orientation so I can get some of my stuff (sheets bedding- I live overseas btw and I’m not attending the int’l orientation).
