Who puts these people on the bench? Just a mockery of our judicial system.
Being in court is very intimidating, especially if you are young, and facing jail. Marriage is a serious lifelong commitment, and this sounds like something that could happen in an Islamic country, not a free society.
Interesting, though, that the father isn’t angry because the judge treated his daughter like property. He’s angry because the judge had no regard for HIM. I guess getting married is the father’s decision, not the woman’s. Excuse me, what century is this?

The whole thing is outrageous; just everything about it. That judge needs to retire NOW. I wonder if he is elderly or something?!

The judge robs the father’s “privilege” of deciding which young man the daughter is allowed to get married with, and this young man now does not need to ask this father for her hand. /sarcastic.
When I first read the news on a crawler, I thought it was concerning “owing back child support”. I don’t know the laws, but I’m guessing that if you owe back child support, but then you marry (or remarry) the mom, the owed-amount goes away?
Don’t know why the order would even come up in the judge’s head when the issue was that the defendant punched the exBF of the young woman.
SMH. These are not people I’m likely to include in my social group.
