Not getting Cal Grant A

I’m a student who has an average of a 3.5 GPA, one of my parents was a high school graduate and my other didn’t graduate high school at all. We are a family of four with low income. I am just curious how I was not awarded cal grant A.

Once you submit your completed FAFSA/DAA and high school GPA you will be considered for the appropriate Cal Grant award based on GPA, financial need and college of attendance.

Cal Grant A
For low to middle income students
3.00 high school GPA minimum
May be used for an academic program that is 2-4 years in length
Can only be used for tuition and fees
If awarded at a California Community College, will be held in reserve up to two years until student transfers to a 4-year school

Cal Grant B
For low income students
2.00 high school GPA minimum
May be used for an academic program that is at least 1 year in length
Includes an additional annual Access Award amount (living expenses)
Sophomore through Senior years the student will receive tuition and fees plus Access Award at tuition charging institution

You have been given excellent advice from the above poster. Your question asked for people who do not know you, your situation or rationale for a decision to explain what happened. Rather the materials included in your application and then call and ask. See if there is time or information that would strengthen you application. Take careful notes and ask questions to get clarification. Good luck on your call. Scary probably, but listen and ask politely.
