I’m an Animal Science major looking to pursue a Master’s in the same field. I am hoping to get accepted into my top schools. However, if that doesn’t happen, how will that impact my career in the industry? Is a grad degree from a lesser school better than no grad degree? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

The answer kind of depends on your field and what you mean by “lesser.” IN some fields getting a lower-tier degree really is worse than having no degree at all, because you’re deep in debt and the salary you can make isn’t much higher than what you would’ve made with the bachelor’s degree, and/or the field is saturated anyway (like law). In other fields, it doesn’t really matter where you get your degree as long as it’s a reputable place because they’re either not prestige-driven fields or there are roughly as many or more openings than workers (nurses, accountants, social workers).

I’m not sure where animal science falls on that spectrum; it really depends on what you want to do. Asking someone who works in that field would be your best bet.
