I am a sophmore taking two AP courses this year and I am unsure whether to take the exams. I called the college board, and they told me that you are allowed to take the exams a year after you take the AP courses. I am wondering whether it would look bad on a college application if I took the exams a year after I took the course. I already know that it will be harder to take the exams a year later, but I just want to know if it will look bad and if I will be penalized…?

first of all, do you really think that you’ll spend the extra year preparing so you can do better than how you might do this year? mind you, you’ll be taking two years’ worth of AP tests next year if you wait.

i don’t think there is any penalization, but idk if the colleges will think that it looks bad

If you’re going to take them at all, take them this year for sure.

Either take them this year or not at all, trust me

You still have 2 months to study for 2 tests. Your fine, take them this year. Next year you’ll have new APs to worry about.
