Not sure if I have to make corrections on my processed FAFSA

It says to make corrections based on the list of errors…but they don’t give me a list of errors. What do I do? My FAFSA says processed so I’m not sure why it says “we can’t successfully process it”.

Also, while reviewing my FAFSA responses, it doesn’t list my mother’s income, which I remember entering. Is this because of the IRS transferring tool or something like that?

We have the same situation with respect to a processed FAFSA but a non-eisting list of errors being mentined iundser Step 1.

This appears to be a common situation. I’m not convinced that there are actually any issues. More likely, FSA programmed in the wrong comment. There is no way to know anything yet, so just relax for now. As soon as the FAFSA is available to you for editing - hopefully in a week - you can get into your FAFSA to review it & see if anything within the FAFSA is actually flagged as being incorrect or needing attention.

As for the question about your mother’s income, she should have checked that she wanted to authorize automatic transfer of her income information from the IRS. If she authorized it, you won’t see the information on your FAFSA (information from the IRS doesn’t show up with your FAFSA information, although the school sees it). If she did not authorize the transfer, that would be considered a problem & she would need to do so in order for your FAFSA to be processed. If that is the case, you should eventually get a notification telling you that she needs to authorize the transfer. (Not saying that she didn’t already do that - just stating that as a possibility, since I don’t know whether she did it when she completed her portion of the FAFSA.)

Once it’s available to edit, will it tell me what needs fixing or do I need to scout it out myself?

I wish I could say for sure. Normally, you would see information telling you what needs fixing, and I assume that you will see information telling you whether something needs fixing (and is so, what). This year things are so weird that I don’t want to say anything that might lead people to thinking things are fine if they aren’t. The best I can say is wait until the FAFSA is available for updates & go from there.
