Not sure if I should retake ACT

I recently took the national April ACT and received a 33C: 31E 36M 28R 35S. I’m looking to apply to colleges like Wash U, Northwestern, UIUC, and Purdue but I am worried that the 28 in reading will hurt my chances. Also, I’m going to be studying something in the STEM field so I’m not sure if they will be turned off and if so how much by the lower reading and english scores. I also took the statewide April ACT and felt like I did just as bad on the reading if not worse, but I think I did fine on everything else. I’m not sure if it’s worth retaking the test so late (I am just finishing my junior year), but then again I don’t want admissions officers to see my reading score and immediately throw out my application. Any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

you should retake it tbh

ACT 33 is pretty competitive for every school on your list and STEM related scores very strong. I think you are fine but as a junior you certainly have time to prep on reading and retake - nothing to lose by doing so. Good luck.

Agree with the above comments. You still have plenty of time, and pushing your superscored composite into the top 25% for your target schools would only help distinguish your application.
