Not Too Big, Not Too Small Schools?

Looking around at schools I see them divided mostly into LACs that have usually less the 3k students and large schools that have 17k+ students. What schools have around 4k-14k students? I don’t see many around, then again I just might not know where to look.

Well the short answer is, a lot.

Here are some examples off of the top of my head:
University of San Diego
Loyola Marymount
CSU Channel Islands
Evergreen State
University of Vermont
MIT
Emory
University of Denver
Sonoma State
Texas Christian University
The College of New Jersey
Truman State
University of Wyoming
Etc

You get the idea. Many regional schools on the USNWR fall into this category as do a number of national Us.

As you might be able to infer from the list, there are a great variety of mid sized schools. Some of them are hyper conservative Christian schools, others are state Us in lower populated states or regions of a state, quite a few are laid back Catholic institutions, while others are elite privates. Many more do not fall into any of these categories

@whenhen thank you so much

When you look at the numbers be sure to separate the graduate students from the undergraduate students.

There are tons of great mid-sized schools…My S wanted a school that size and we actually found that a lot of Jesuit schools fit the bill (he went to Fordham and loved it). Also schools like Villanova, Lehigh, URochester would fit that category. Many others will too…

Have you tried the SuperMatch tool on this site? Click the link on the left side of this page. Choose your preferences for dozens of criteria (size, location, majors, etc.) and you’ll get a list of schools to investigate. You can choose midsize schools for a list of all of them, or add other criteria for a more customized list.
