Not using financial aid this time ?

Hello, about 3 years ago I attended a private university. I had to leave because it was too expensive. Now I am wanting to go to community college. I don’t plan on using financial aid this semester because of my balance owed at the university. Is it possible to take classes at the community college without using aid ? I’m paying for classes out of pocket until I can afford to get my transcripts from the previous place.

When you apply to the CC you will need to provide transcripts from any other school you have attended.

You can certainly pay for college out of pocket but I doubt any school will accept you until you can provide the transcripts from your prior college.

If you can aford to pay for classes out of pocket, you can afford to start to pay down your debt to the first university.

You cannot be accepted as a degree candidate at the CC until you can provide the transcripts. However, you can take non-credit classes in the Continuing Education division, and the CC might let you enroll for one or two credit classes in non-degree-seeking status. Go to the CC and discuss your specific learning goals with a counselor. Ask specifically about the options that are available while you wait for your transcript. You are not the first person with this problem.
