Anyone know of any notable law school faculty? For example I think Stephen Breyer used to be a adjunct professor at HLS.

It’s a pretty safe assumption that all of the top law schools, and many of the law schools out of the T14 have faculty that are notable in the field of law. What may make a professor notable in the legal profession, however, is often not something that would make that same professor well known among the general public.

For example, one of my law school professors was a preeminent scholar in the areas of secured transactions and bankruptcy, and acted as the reporter when the ALI drafted revised Article 9 of the UCC several years back. Revised Article 9 has now been adopted into law in one form or another in most states. That probably wouldn’t seem like a big deal to my mom (a retired non-lawyer who has only the foggiest sense of what I do for a living) or to most of the general public (though these revisions probably affect the lives of every U.S. resident at some time), but it made this professor quite a person to know in the legal community.

Of course, there are lawyers who put themselves in the spotlight too. If you go to the website of any given law school, it will give you a faculty roster, and often some information about that professor’s projects, background and interests, for you to see.

Justice Breyer was a real tenured professor at HLS, not an adjunct. Off the top of my head, a few of the profs who have some real-world celebrity include Judges Posner and Easterbrook at U Chicago, Judge Calabresi, Akil Amar, and Owen Fiss at Yale, and Larry Tribe, Alan Dershowitz, Martha Minow, and Lani Guinier at Harvard.

FWIW, Ken Starr is the Dean at Pepperdine.

John Yoo is a professor at boalt

Victor Garber is a professor at Harvard Law Ken Starr is an ass

charles ogletree jr., the former lawyer of tupac, is a professor at HLS.

There are several famous internet bloggers who are also law professors, such as Eugene Volokh, UCLA, and the Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, U-Tennessee.
