Hey fellow int’l students (or anyone who can help, really): Well, the title’s pretty self-explanatory…I’m filling out the paperwork right now to accept my admission to Wash U, and on the 2010-2011 Declaration and Certification of Finances form there’s a line for “Notary’s Signature” and another for “Notary’s Seal”. I was wondering, does that mean I have to arrange for a notarization with an agency or something? Which, as far as I know, would probably take days, and since the May 1st deadline’s fast approaching…well…
Thx in advance!

if you have an official financial statement from the bank, there’s no need to have the notary signature.

You sure? Oh gosh that’s a relief!! Thx Soundwave.

I’m pretty sure bc I asked the same question several weeks ago to the admission officer.
She responded me in email, though I think I might deleted it, I’m 100% sure there’s no need to notarize the form.

@Soundwave:
Yup, I called the admission people just now…they say it’s fine, we’re NOT required to get any notarization, and they’re actually trying to remove that line…

And also I’m very certain I mailed a Bank Letter back in January with my application supplement…but it says it has not been received online (I can’t really blame them for that, for it’s probably still somewhere in the admission department) so I asked them about it, and they transfered me from one department to another…which in the end led me to a voicemail…which is kinda frustrating (considering I spend 6+ mins talking on an int’l line). Yeah well why bother in the first place, I’ll mail them another copy…
Right, sorry for the rambling…if you don’t mind me asking, you’re from China, right?

Hello international people
Yeah while I was at international lunch during Multicultural Weekend, I asked them the same question and they said all they needed was that form with yours & parent signature and a bank letter with official letterhead and signature stating there are enough funds etc. Hope to see you guys during Explore program!

Btw, I’m from Canada if you didn’t already figure out from the name :P

eww, @lauranawain, how did you find out?

@Can2010, hope to see you during the program too!!

Oh, I didn’t know and got a notary to stamp and sign it anyway. Ah well.

Hope to meet you guys during Explore :)

Thx y’all!

@Can2010 & @Xray11, yup!! See ya there! Ahh this is gonna be AWESOME…

@Soundwave, you meant how I found out you’re from China? Then I’m correct? Well, I don’t login a lot (unless I got a question) but I do visit CC pretty frequently…and I’ve been reading a lot of your replies and posts, with plenty insider’s info on China and for int’l applicants…plus you asked Zenith about the Econ classes - well I don’t really know what your intended field of study is but Econ & Engineering are pretty much Chinese’s all time favorite…

really? I never came to mind that econ is a favorite for Chinese undergraduate students… I thought it was graduate’s all time favorite
