Note left for Transcript package

<p>Well, I sent my package with my transcript and recommendations, but no one was there to get it, so a note was left. It says that if no one picks it up at the post office - it will get sent back to me. </p>

<p>Does anyone have similar experiences to this? What do I do?</p>

<p>If it comes back, call the admissions office when they return from the holiday break and explain what happened and what you are planning to do.
I’m sure this happens every year.</p>

<p>Your transcript and recommendations are not due on January 1 (this is the deadline for the student application). As long as your application is submitted on time, you will be ok.</p>

Late students always ask me if they should rush to FedEx the materials if they are a day late. I say save your money - it takes admissions people two to four weeks to open, sort, date stamp, and file all the applications so no one will even see when your application was mailed. What actually happens is that admissions staff, secretaries, and anyone else who is free take shifts, rip open all the envelopes, date stamp the documents, input them into the computer, and file them. It always pained me to see all those FedEx envelopes sit on the mail room floor for weeks as we tried to keep up with the mail.

<p>Mrs. Hernandez was an admissions officer for Dartmouth, and she also wrote A for Admission. Take this advice with a grain of salt though. Most of your submission was electronic, while I believe it was mostly paper for the time she was there. A day or two shouldn’t matter too much, but a week is pushing it.</p>
