Noted Scholar Is New Director of the USC Dornsife Center for Economic and Social Rese

<p>Dr. Arie Kapteyn has accepted the appointment as the founding Director of the USC Dornsife Center for Economic and Social Research and Professor of Economics. He will return to USC on November 15. Kapteyn comes to the university from the RAND Corp. where he was senior economist and Director of RAND Labor and Population. He was also Director of the Roybal Center for Financial Decisionmaking.</p>

<p>Dr. Kapteyn has written numerous articles and six texts on economic topics. He has had a distinguished career in academia and the recipient of various honors. He is a past president of the European Society for Population Economics, Fellow of the Eonometric Society, member of the Dutch Royal Academy, Knight of the Netherlands Lion and a Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study. He is the recipient of the Koopman’s Medal.</p>

<p>Dr. Kapteyn was educated in the Netherlands and received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Leyden.</p>
