My D was ED’ed at Williams and they did it at 8 pm, which seemed odd–until I figured out that 8 would be 5 pm on the West Coast so that the kids out there didn’t have to check while still at school-- that seems to make sense-- I wish the Ivies would be so considerate. I mean for those on the East Coast it’s a few more hours, but at least you won’t have your friends looking over your shoulder when you log on…

Just be warned everyone, 5 does not mean 5, unless you’re fortunate. Back on December 15 I had my phone in my hand every moment from 4:30 onwards. I got home at 5:30. Still no decision. Constantly brushing friends and family off. Not yet, I’d say. I finally took a nap, because there was no way I was doing anything else, so I might as well sleep. I woke up around 7:15, lay around, then finally the e-mail came at 7:30. It was timestamped 5:01 PM though. Moral of the story: 5 doesn’t really mean 5, and your anxiety will be through the roof, like nothing you can imagine. Have fun gentlemen. I’m glad I got in the first time.

Do not freak out if your computer freezes at five. In fact if you are able to do this psychologically-- go out and play the piano or hoops or something for an hour or so and then come back in and check around 6.30 EDT.

You can also try logging into the admitted students’ website. I know a friend who didn’t get the email 'til late, but found out she was accepted EA by successfully logging in a little after five. Of course, this won’t tell you much if you weren’t accepted, but if you were… you can celebrate that much earlier :)

^the email i got said 5pm, do you think they are sending people different times based on alphabetical order? because i have a friend with a last name closer to the beginning of the alphabet and she got the email 6pm the day before. I got my email 8am.
