Essays:
I honestly am super stressed about my essays. My English teacher edited my Common App one and she really liked it (it was about how a teacher said that girls never do anything in tech ed classes and how I have worked to prove him wrong). The Notre Dame-specific ones are only 200 words, so I didn’t feel like I could say everything I wanted to. For Why Notre Dame? I talked about how at first my only connection to Notre Dame was football, but the first time I visited, I fell in love with every part of it and how the specific organizations would be an amazing part of my story and how it was perfect because I could grow in my faith while learning at a top institution. I mentioned specific groups that differentiate Notre Dame from other schools, but it just didn’t feel like enough. I also wrote about my “Home” in another short essay, where I talked about my Girl Scout troop and how they made me who I am today. I wanted the admissions board to see a bit of my personality, so I tried to make it a little humorous, which leads me to my last essay. It was “Take a Risk,” and I wrote about how humor is such an important part of the world and how it can connect us in these divided times, and I shared a humorous story that happened to me because I wanted them to see me as a person and not just another number. Basically, I was trying to differentiate myself, but I’m worried I might’ve ruined everything. I don’t know, guys. I’m just stressed lol
Letters:
My 10th grade Human Geo teacher wrote me a letter specifically for Notre Dame. Obviously, I didn’t read it, but he said he wrote about how I want to grow in my faith and how Notre Dame is my first choice and he tailored it to the Notre Dame mission statement, so I think it was pretty good. I’ve kept up with him even though he hasn’t be my teacher. In tenth grade, he actually promised to write me a letter when I was graduating, so I feel pretty good about this one.
The other letter was from my guidance counselor, and it’s honestly probably pretty average. My guidance counselor likes me and keeps updated on everything I’m doing, so I’m sure it was good, but I doubt it blew anyone out of the water.
Sorry this was so long! I’m just stressed waiting for decisions from everywhere
Thank you in advance for any help!!!
