Notre Dame Transfer Fall 2010

That’s great news!!! Congrats!!!

Thank you, just waiting for the packet to arrive now – does anyone know the likelihood of transfers getting on-campus housing??

^probably unlikely - you can always try, but i think dorms are pretty full in general - there are a number of off-campus apartments that advertise to ND students.

That is outstanding! my daughter is at UC school that is on quarter system and ND was waiting for final grades. They have them now, hoping for the best.

Andyboy23, just for your reference I was accepted as a transfer student. I had a high school GPA of 4.1 and took the ACT and got a 32. I went to Saint Mary’s College and got a 3.77 GPA overall but I also got straight A’s second semester after getting a not-so-great grade in Calculus which brought my GPA way down the first semester. I had the luxury of being in the area and was able to make appointments with the transfer counselor to make sure I was on track and was taking the required classes. I was a bit surprised about getting into Notre Dame since many people tell you not to go to Saint Mary’s or Holy Cross but both my brother and I have successfully transferred from those schools.

Anyway, I did apply as a freshman for Science and was waitlisted. This time around I applied for Arts & Letters and got in, like I said. I think it depends on what you’re studying, College of Science is usually more difficult to get in than Arts & Letters, at least from my experience.

Hey guys
I got a call today from nd alerting me to take a summer course. But the person that called said a final decision hasn’t been made on my application. Any thoughts??

Lilymarie, I would say that is a very very good sign and I would sign up for the class if you want to transfer to ND. Good luck!

Still waiting to receive ND ID# to get name on housing list. Does anyone know how the housing looks for transfers this year?

I got a call yesterday from the Admissions counselor and was told I’m in! She said they still haven’t mailed out some of the packets though

Oh I’m so excited for you – that’s great!! Congrats, I know you waited a long time!!!

I can’t believe it!! I got in!!!

Congrats! Are you going to ND or BC?

Things didn’t work out with BC, so it’s either ND or community college. Here’s to hoping ND works out for me!

Anyone on here thinking about putting their name in for off-campus housing just in case the on-campus doesn’t work out? If so, anyone thinking of going anywhere in particular? Thinking maybe it’s better to grab a short-term lease now, just in case.

Hey for those of you who are transferring, there are some great options directly off campus such as Dublin Village and Irish Crossings. There are some less expensive options such as Clover Village, Clover Ridge, and Stadium Club which are also nice. I would recommend looking into Dublin Village and Irish Crossings however because there are some units that have not yet been leased and these are usually very expensive units that are now nicely discounted for the 2010/2011 academic year. I am going to be a junior and am considering canceling my on campus housing contract and looking for people to potentially move into Irish Crossings or Dublin Village with.
Does anyone know if transfer grades will show up on the transcript, or do they just indicate that a credit was fulfilled?

I think it depends how the school does it. Are you talking about your ND transcript that you will have after this year or a transcript you are sending to ND?

I’m talking about the transcript I’d have from Notre Dame, not that of the previous school from which I’ve transferred credits. I think a “C” or better on a transferable class counts, but would that grade show up?

They show up as credits transferred in but there is no grade attached to them. Your GPA starts completely over as well.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows when transfer parents usually depart campus? I’m trying to tell from the orientation schedule - it’s looks as if there are activities involving parents through Saturday? Thanks so much and good luck to everyone!
