Notre Dame, U-Michigan, Emory, UCLA, Boston College chances?

My Top choice is Notre Dame
Freshman: 3b’s in 2 semesters. 2b’s in honors bio and 1 b in algebra 2
Sophomore: All A’s both semester. Took 3 Honors classes which are English, Chemistry, and Geometry
Junior year: 1st semester: I got 3b’s due to being sick… I got B’s in German, AP History, and AP English… I studied far less compared to sophomore year because I had an illness (Not super serious but bad enough to affect my grades) … 2nd Semester: So far, with only half of the semester left, I think I will end up getting 1 or 2 B’s and if I get lucky with Bio, then maybe All A’s.
So overall Gpa will probably like 4.25-4.3? and maybe 3.83-3.85 unweighted assuming that I could get All A’s in senior year
I will be taking all AP classes and hoping I could get All A’s to show the upward trend and make up for my Junior year.

Extracurricular:
Freshman: Quizbowl, Volunteering Club, Science fair, German Club
Sophomore Year- Quizbowl, GermanClub, Volunteering Club (won a small award) , Business Club, Science Club (Won few minor awards) Science Fair (have won minor awards since freshman to junior as well.)
Junior year: Lacrosse (Varsity) and think will be cocaptain in senior year. Science club,NHS, Manager for a sports team, research assistant at a local college, A minor leadership position. I think I will be an Editor of photos for the newspaper in senior year,
So for leadership I have a minor leadership position (Not going into detail what that is), Co-captian of a varsity team, and maybe a vp or p for business club next year?
Volunteering:
I also did internship at a office sophomore year through junior year.
and about 80 hrs in homeless center and will have over 100 hrs by the summer.

Test: 33 on Act and retaking it to get a 34-35

I do not know what major I am going into and both of my parents work at Notre Dame if that helps.

You gave that assumed GPA based on maybe getting all As senior year.
What is your unweighted GPA currently? (Or estimated with this semester of junior year?)

@c011e9e right now it’s like 3.80. It’s because I got a B in German :frowning:

I’m assuming you’re in state for Notre Dame since your parents work there… Which is good, in state will help you, at least a little bit.
Out of state will make your chances at the other schools on your list a lot harder.
Your GPA is under the averages for most if not all of these schools. Don’t be discouraged though! You have great stats and will obviously get into a great school. I think if I were you, I would apply to ND early action since its your top choice and instate and your parents work there, and apply to Boston college and UofM regular decision. (I don’t know enough about UCLA and Emory to comment much)
With UM and BC, I would not follow the new fad of everyone thinking that you need to apply EA everywhere.
Use the first semester of your senior year to help you. Get great grades so that when they see these grades for RD, they will see that you are still working hard to improve your GPA.
I think that would give you the best chance at those two specifically.

Just my opinion though based on my knowledge of those two

@c011393 ND is a private school. There is no in-state advantage since it’s not a publicly funded college by the state of Indiana.

Honestly it sounds like you’ll be set for ND, but sometimes it’s ridiculously difficult to understand their decisions. Good luck!

As someone with similar stats–2170 SAT and 3.8 GPA–I think you have a solid shot at these schools. Just make sure to polish your application.

I had very solid ECs and (for some schools) equally great essays… my results were as follows:

Rejected ND, Waitlisted Emory, Accepted University of Michigan.

Honestly, you should get into BC. Though I didn’t apply, everyone from my school–and my classmates tend to have weak ECs–got in so long as they had a 2050 or so SAT.

I’d say having a parent working at ND may pull weight–perhaps enough to break a tie and get you in.

Another point to note, I sent, in my opinion, my best supplements of that bunch to Michigan; additionally, I sent them a much more polished version of my common app essay because their deadline was a full month later. I do not think my results were a coincidence.

So, I’d say you have a good chance at all schools you mentioned though I won’t comment on UCLA because I don’t have enough experience with the matter. For Emory, Michigan, and ND, make sure to have your application VERY polished and in tip-top shape; if so, your chances are good.

For BC, I think you’ll get in. It’s a bit easier than the others on this list and you seem qualified enough compared to those I’ve known who were accepted.
