Nov. 3 - Korean Test with Listening

I only took Korean test today. How do you guys think you guys did on the Korean test? It was a bit harder than I expected, but still pretty easy.

I thought it was really easy…probably because I speak it at home. The vocabulary is pretty advanced though. I would imagine that the test would be pretty difficult for those who are native to it.

I was a little unsure of a couple questions.
The one about the job hiring, was the answer restaurant or supermarket?
And also, the one about Kim, what was the answer to the last question? It said something about which one these describes Kim.

definitely restaurant b/c the ad stated that they were looking for chefs. i guess you can argue that supermarkets can have chefs, but the overall description of the ad made me certain it was a restaurant.

i don’t remember the last question much, do you remember any answer choices?

are you sure that it was restaurant?
although they were looking for “chefs” and the ad did indeed look like one for a restaurant, there was still something about hiring someone to be in charge of the “fruit” department. also, in the beginning of the ad, it said something about the establishment being known for its clean environment and quality “materials”.
therefore, i put supermarket. GPAx213, you may be right. im just giving my side of it :)

the answer to the kim question is that she is outspoken.
the other choices included her being a young actress or something like that, but in fact, kim is the fictional character in the author’s cartoon, not a movie. actresses are in movies, while characters in a cartoon. make any sense? the other 2 answers didnt make any sense to my memory.

i got one of the fill-in-the-blanks wrong.
the one that looks something like

1: did you get rest last week?
2: nope. ________ and i didnt have enough time to even eat.

but other than that, the korean test was preeeeeeetty darn easy.

hope everyone did really well! :)

does anybody know how theyre gonna scale the korean with listening? o_o

The job hiring one was supermarket. It talked about how they sell goods and how they needed someone to work in the fruit/vegetable department.

The Kim question, I also put that she was outspoken.

yeah… I put supermarket as well… although many of my friends say that it’s restaurant… b/c it said fresh “materials” at the beginning

I remember putting outspoken as one of my answer choices.

But would supermarkets need chefs? I thought it was just a really big restaurant serving diverse varieties of foods, like buffet style.

I heard usually up to -3 = 800?

Aigo~ Dang, I feel like I screwed up.
Hopefully, I didn’t do as poorly as I think I did.

Who else got the one that looks like this wrong:

Speaker1: 지난주 잘 쉬셨어요?
Speaker2: 아니오. _______밥먹을 틈도없이 바뻤어요.

A lot of my fob friends and also my parents told me that the answer was:
쉴somethingsomething커녕(?)

Never heard of that in my life, but darn it, I got it wrong.

Is 3 wrong really an 800? Cause if that’s the case, yeah, I think I got it :stuck_out_tongue: But…then I’m guessing that the overwhelming number of fobs that took this test made the scale pretty brutal.

Please, nobody take offense. I love fobs. :)

I hope everybody did really well !
I’m sure you did well, yort :)

and GPAx213, I’m pretty sure that the answer was supermarket.
It was pretty hard and the chefs definitely threw you off, but if you go to any Korean supermarket, they have a separate section with a restaurant or place that makes banchan. The “fresh materials (moolgun)” at the beginning and also the search for someone in charge of “fruits (gwail)” are what made me change my answer from restaurant to supermarket.

Does anybody remember the weather one?
I think I put down the answer as “clearing up later at night” or something like that.

Lol. I never heard of that word either (I’m kinda fob~ish) but I put it as the answer since all the other choices didn’t quite fit.

For the weather one, I also put “clearing up later in the night” as the answer. I wasn’t too sure about it though.

Hahaha, good to see you koreans still living. Btw, i came to the US and I know what that means…haha  But i didn’t take a korean sat II

근데 한국인이 한국satii 봐도 상관없다는데; 사실인가요;
그냥 '에라이’하고 한번본건데, 잘못하면 나한테 해로울수가 있는건지…

jules, I put 쉴somethingsomething커녕(?), I thought that question was pretty easy. And I heard that type of usage a lot.

ehh i guess I got the supermarket thing wrong.

i put clearing up later at night for the weather one as well.

you probably did okay jules. I am sure you got an 800 (800 = 70% tile?) Don’t worry about it too much, colleges know korean = easy 800 for many, but I don’t think it will hurt you if you did bad. (I would respond in Korean but I can’t type in Korean at all)

상관 없어요… 져도 11월에 Chem 보는김에 그냥 한국어 본다고 봤는데
뭐 별로 큰 weight 는 없을꺼에요 ㅎ

I was confused about the question regarding the letter to Seho. It said the letter was from England, right? so the question was what country does Seho live in? anyone know the answer?

he lives in Korea

YESSSSSSSSSS! 800 here I COME!!! OH MY GOSH!!! AHHHH!
jk lol. I probably got like a 780. I got the stupid supermarket question wrong, the birthday party question in listening(for some stupid reason, oh well), and the one that has just been discussed in this forum. damn, hope that’s still +750! GOOD enough for me since the UC’s only care about numbers!

Hey what was the anwer to the birthday party in the listening section? and the supermarket one… so most ppl are sure that it was a restaurant? But I remember it saying that there are lots of fresh? “materials” or something… can’t believe I don’t get an 800 on Korean… I feel sooo dumb dudes

its okay man. this test, according to someone who took this test 2 times, was way harder. (longer passages and harder vocab.) Im sure you still have a shot at 800 though. The question was obviously ■■■■■■■■ since it was unclear and rather ambiguous since it could be a restaurant and a grocery. The name of the place made it sound like it was a restaurant. I’m still unsure about the same question and I consider myself pretty proficient at Korean. It’s not the end of the world if you missed it; you’ll still probably get into the college of choice even with a 750 in Korean. :)
