Novelist has question about availability of digital texts in chem/bio

I am a Maryland-based novelist seeking basic information about the textbooks and classroom resources used in Ivy undergrad and grad-level chemistry, biology, and biochemistry courses.

Q: Can a student today obtain digital texts for most or perhaps all of their under/grad courses in these areas or are paper-based texts sometimes all that exists? A guesstimate on the percentage between digital and paper texts would be helpful. I know things are trending toward all-digital.

Are lecture notes today widely available in digital format?

Thanks so much.
