when does each state typically announce the actual cut-off score for those who made the semi-finalist status? My son made the top 1% nationally (99th percentile) based on composite score, but it’s my understanding that each state has to determine its own 1% as its cut-off score for the semi-finalist status. Does anyone know approximately when each state officially announces this?
Your son will be notified next September. The state cutoffs are determined by the National Merit corporation, not by the individual states.
