<p>So I was picking up after my daughter, and notice that she had extensive notes and a rough draft of a scholarship essay on a book she read. I was so impressed, thinking, she finally gets it, – here she has taken the initiative and is applying for a scholarship that I didn’t have to nag her about, a major breakthrough.</p>
<p>Of course, when I mentioned it to her, she informed me that he English teacher assigned entry into the scholarship contest as a major part of her grade this quarter. </p>
<p>So it is the teacher who gets it, not my daughter! If she were to win something, I figure the English teacher is entitled to a cut…</p>
