Do you have to deal with a parent who is at home during the day and ruins your “being home alone” fun? I used to have the house to myself during the summers, but now my dad works from home everyday of the week accept one (and its the one i’m not home for anyway)…

…it sucks! He doesn’t have to wake up at 4 am every morning and start work at 4:30 then work until 5pm, but he does! And that means he expects me to “carry my share of the load”. So pretty much when i wake up at around 10:30ish, he’s been awake for 5 hours, and is already grumpy at me because i’ve been sleeping while he’s been working. He will then come up from his work cave in the basement and greet me with the customary sarcastic “good afternoon” and then interrogate me about how late I was up. And then when i get irked at him for being such a hardass about it he slumps away back to his cave while making sure he’s mad about something. He usually then comes up periodically to give me some pointless instructions or to complain about how much water is in the basement and how he “spent 3 hours cleaning it up”.

Ahh… life was good when I was truly home alone

Look if you really want time alone to jerk it I guess you could just wait for them all to go to sleep or something…

Helps if you actually read the OP

Now to the topic.

It’s the same for me, except it’s my mother who is on the phone with her friends from China. Basically she wakes up at 6am and begins talking at a ridiculously loud volume and wakes me up

Get a job then & work while he works at home.

its the same for me for the past 4 years when my dad accepted the offer to work from home, ever since then i just be so mad cause i use to always have the home to myself and just act up since he not there but i havent in a while, having the house to yourself is like the best feeling in the world. I hate even more when both my parents are home when i wake up around 10, it just ruins the whole day/vibe, i dont even want to get out the bed when my moms home too

Both my parents work from home. I am /never/ home alone.

As long as they are paying your bills/housing you’re not allowed to complain.

You’re being a brat. How about being thankful that you have a house in which you have a father who takes care of your college-aged,lazy behind?Get the hell up in the mornings and get a part time job instead of complaining and whining needlessly like a spoilt little twat.

It’s easy to judge someone from thousands of miles away from the Internet. It is every parent’s task to take care of their children, but the OP is seeking compromise. Telling him to be a slave to his daddy isn’t going to solve anything.

I am thankful for my parents and all they do for me, macmill, i don’t see how i’m a brat just because it is irksome that my dad is home whenever I am. I was just saying, its always nice to have the house to yourself, and to suddenly never have that it is kind of frustrating.

I do have a job, but im only scheduled to work evenings. I’ve been trying to get another job, but that hasn’t been met with success yet.

Just imagine when you can afford to live on your own. Your parents won’t even have a key.

UGH, YES. My mom stays at home and nags me all day. Sometimes I’m appreciative because yeah, mom, I know it’s good for me to go out and do stuff and keep my room clean, but on the days when I want to veg out and enjoy summer for all it’s worth and she continually tells me to do stuff…not so much.

Haha, my mom doesn’t even work and my dad goes in for like 2 hours a day and then works from home. And then he stays up till 3 every night and sits at his desk right outside my bedroom.

Part of the reason I stayed at school for summer session ;)
