In mid-july I was awarded the NROTC scholarship as an Immediate Selection Reservation (ISR) candidate(only 5 applicants per Naval Recruiting District are eligible to be selected), and the scholarship is to Harvard. I plan on applying early action to Harvard, but I am curious about my chances because I need to utilize this scholarship in order to be able to attend college…In addition to the fact that I plan on becoming a Naval Officer. With that being said, here are my stats:
-GPA: 4.4 weighted and 4.0 UW
-graduate with 12 APs with one being a completely independent study
-white male from public school in the south. (really diverse…right?)

It goes on and on…and i have more awards. So what do you all think? Good Chance or no? I looked at the stats, and figured out that last year Harvard accepted about 19% of all SCEA applicants…1 in 5 isnt too bad. Also, since I will be going into NROTC, I would be in the Navy Reserve during college so would the fact that my app says “military reserve status at time of enrollment” help out as far as diversity of applicants goes? Thanks for your time.

Competition is really stiff so I’m afraid that the SATs are dragging you down. However you have excellent ECs. Even in early action, for this reason, I’d say that Harvard is a reach.

im new to this- how do you apply or receive the nrotc isr? im looking to do similar to what you are doing, but im just confused as to how to apply for nrotc in college and such
