I applied last year in 10th grade to NSLIY but got rejected after the second round. I forgot to turn in some paper work (don’t wait till the last minute for anything, like I did) this year and my application didn’t go through. It’s fine though, more opportunities open up for juniors in the summer than any other year, IMO. I got accepted into a summer program at MIT (MOSTEC if you’re familiar).
Anyway, should I apply for this next year, even though that college would be right around the corner?

I’m a senior and am a finalist for the Arabic gap year. You should def apply !!
@floisprogressiv4 do you know how many finalists there are for arabic year? I read that they were supposed to select 20 but then I read that there are only 10 in total? Also- do you happen to know of anyone not going/still considering it or is everyone pretty set?

No I’m sorry. Idk how many people/ anybody else who is going. I think it all depends on whether their university will let them. I’m fairly confident I will be attending.

@floisprogressiv4 oh no worries! Of course I want everyone to be able to go, but as an alternate it would merely be nice to get an understanding of the likelihood of getting bumped 
either way, I probably won’t hear until May 1, so ought to commit to a college!
I saw it on the NSLIY applicant Facebook page, but I think they were just guessing based on who else was online

It’s NSLIY Applicants 2012-2013! But everyone still uses it- there’s a lot of info there. How long did year people have to accept their position?
My daughter is going to Morocco for the summer with AMIDEAST. She has not yet received anything from them, like forms, information, text book, etc. Does anyone know when they usually start sending these things? Also, does anyone know when the webinars are supposed to take place? Thanks!

sure i follow nsliy on twitter and recently a girl was chosen as an alternate and was moved up to finalist @shadmiss
I know we alternates had until the 28th to accept, but I thought maybe year was sooner?
Alternates, don’t lose hope! Two people were moved up for Arabic year alone!
