Can someone please comment on the “previous visit to target country” issue? Is this a rule that previous visit would hurt odds of being selected, or is it an impression you guys get from the results? I just saw it mentioned in this thread and wondering re the source. Has anyone been selected that has visited the country before?
My Dd has studied Arabic for a long time and is schedule to visit one of the two countries this summer on family vacation. Will this hurt her odds? Thank you everyone and congrats to everyone as well, both the semifinalists and those who completed yet another application!
Logged on to nsliy website the other day to double check that the health form was submitted okay and noticed that the deadline field now says Feb 22. Was the deadline for submitting the health form extended and if so, will this push back the typical notification dates for finalists?
Halfway there guys! Results should start rolling out in about two weeks (if it’s similar to previous years)! Good luck to everyone–we’re finally at the home stretch. 
Has anyone submitted their passport info yet or do we need to wait for an email requesting it?
You would need to wait until the status of your finalist notification is confirmed and then the implementing organization will contact you directly regarding passport and visa next steps. Good luck everyone, the first round of notifications should be coming out sometime next week based on past precedent.
Does anyone know what kinds of courses will be offered during the Arabic summer program? I have read reports of Arabic Year alumni taking courses in Arabic calligraphy and applied linguistics and studing Arabic literature and Middle Eastern politics with their professors. These topics highly interest me, but it does not appear that are as many classes offered during the summer.
I am so impatient for results to come in! Whether or not I am accepted this summer will completely affect how I organize the rest of my year! At least we have only about week until some of the smaller programs begin to receive emails! Good luck in this final stretch, everyone!
Russian summer semi-finalist here! Has anyone got a notification yet? I think we get them soon.
No notification for Russian summer received as of yet here as well. Based on past precedent, I suspect that this Wednesday the 28th acceptance notifications might be released, and if not then, hopefully by Friday March 2nd. Will keep this board posted.

Pretty sure that they are! Last year they suspended it like beforethey sent out semi finalist notifications I’m pretty sure, so I believe we would’ve heard about the suspension of the trip by now. Are you a semi for Turkish?? I am!!
