I’ve been sad because i’ve missed cool opportunities that i’d reeaaally like to do, just because they’d overlap with this program that I don’t even know if i’m in and have a low-ish chance of getting into : p
but the good thing is that that’s motivated me to prepare for my interview and perfect my application so I don’t give up these things for nothing : )
When I was accepted into CBYX I was told that finalists also needed to be cleared by the German counterparts, since it is a joint program. I don’t know if that is why it is separate application, however.

Hey! Just joined this. I’m a semifinalist for CBYX(CIEE), FLEX, and YES. Super excited for everything! I have my FLEX and YES interviews tomorrow and would love to connect with other semifinalists 
Is anyone else a rising senior? My counselor says that I might not be able to get my diploma from my HS in the US. I think we can resolve it, but it’s kinda annoying.

Oof I hope you’re able to get your diploma. I agree, some of the academic aspects of this are annoying, but it’ll be worth it if you get in!

I am a rising senior, and from everything I have seen, you might have to go to your district and talk with the officials. If you are in Florida, I suggest going to FLVS and speed running senior year during summer.
TBH my ranking were kinda random. I’ll definitely redo them after the country fair. My too four were Türkiye, Bosnia, North Macedonia, and Jordan!
I’ll be at Atlanta! Is that also the closest to you as well?

My son applied for the Indonesian summer program and just had his interview. Does anyone know how many semi-finalists end up being invited to join the program? He is super excited and I am just wondering whether they have LOTS of semi-finalists but very FEW who move beyond that interview stage. Thanks!
As per a comment on a past NSLI-Y thread, Indonesia summer has 15 spots. (Here’s the original post NSLI-y 2021-2022 - #36 by Noname20202021). It appears they sourced the numbers from a US State Department report. From what I understand about NSLI-Y, the programs with fewer spots have fewer applicants to start with, so I’m guessing the Indonesian program is about as competitive as other programs (so like 15-20% acceptance rate overall). Lol yeah I’m looking forward to the country fair too; while my rankings weren’t totally random I’m definitely lookin forward to learning more about each country so I can make a more informed choice!
I put Türkiye and Jordan in my top four too!
We should soon be getting the email for the country fair…considering how February is only 2 weeks away and they said it’ll be in the beginning of February.

I literally have a countdown going for March 10 (the day I’m guessing we’ll get FLEX/YES notifs based on past release dates) and the beginning of February for the webinar.
March is going to be insane… I have a feeling that everyone will be refreshing their emails every day multiple times a day. Gosh, I’m so nervous but excited!
Yeahhh in December I was literally going insane and obsessing over my email before sf notifs came out, so I can’t imagine how bad it’s gonna be for me in March Hopefully it’s worth it and I get to go! Otherwise, I’ll try again next year. And every year after that I can before I graduate.
