NU Email account

Ok so I can receive and send mail through my NU account. Is there any means by which to re-read the mail I have already sent??

I can't find that feature but can't believe it doesn't exist.

doesn't exist :/ have to switch to the google mail ( if you want that.

for important emails i attach a BCC to one of my other email accounts

If you switch the the account, I think you could still have people send you things to the '' address and get your mail.

ok well that's pretty weird. There are some funky things about NU. I expect more from their set up at times. It's frustrating.

for everything northwestern has going for it, foresight in technology is not really one of them

elsijfdl-well said

anyways about the email, if you're trying to use "your netid", thats' not your email. they give you another alias. and then your u.northwestern, if you're not logging in using the login they have given you (ie not one of the other aliases you may have made) you can't get in.

From the website:

How can I save a copy of mail that I send in WebMail?

You can save a copy of an outgoing message you have sent in WebMail by clicking the cc: option in the header and inserting your email address. This will carbon copy you on the outgoing message.

If you switch the the account

Don't you have to be invited through e-mail in order to be able to switch?

Because I don't think that incoming students have been invited to join yet.

I'm not sure.... but on the website it says that it is available to "all undergraduate students"

;/a>

That is a good tip. I think it's weird that there is no "sent" option. That's basic stuff.

Anyway, thanks. I'll use the cc.

I actually cleared this up just yesterday. I always thought a "sent" folder is standard, but I guess not. I called NU IT Help desk and asked, and they told me how to do it. I don't remember the steps but it involved going to options (I have Merle if it makes a difference), and changing my Primary Mailhost Protocol to IMAP, and then a couple steps more.

Regardless, I now have a sent folder.

Information Technology Phone: 847-491-HELP (4357)

I was fairly impressed with how helpful and nice the IT guy was.

If one exists, then why is it not standard?!?!!? Sigh....

It exists only if you set up email using an email client (such as Outlook). I recommend Mozilla Thunderbird. NUIT has explicit instructions on how to set up an account using IMAP and POP3 and the differences between the two.

Once you set up your mail to run through a client, you can create a Sent folder as well as other organizational folders. A client is much more useful for managing email than going through webmail so I highly recommend looking into one.

I haven't transferred my email to yet but hopefully will do that soon...

"It exists only if you set up email using an email client"

Uh, yeah.... I'm just too lazy for all that....

lol, i'm with you on that one kk, i just have all my northwestern email forwarded to gmail.
