Ok…so we’re all set to head up for family weekend and we have Sunday all planned to head into Chicago to see the museums, a boat ride, Navy Pier…etc… I just found out the Chicago Marathon is that day…anyone have any experience with that event? Does it draw hoards of people to the downtown area that stay all day? Any advice on traffic and of course parking.

Thanks for the “heads up” about the Chicago Marathon, frazzleddad! We’re also going to NU for family weekend and I didn’t realize that the streets of Chicago will be even more congested than normal. I checked the website, www.chicagomarathon.com, and they indicate all of the road closings, parking possibilities and prices ($13.00 for the day), and a CTA transport guide.

Our d is surprised that she is seeing us so soon – it has been a very short 3 weeks (for her!) since we helped her move in to her dorm.

yes…only 3 weeks since move in…then just another 5 to Thanksgiving and then a couple more to Christmas…seems like a nice gentle transition…we’re driving up so we’ll have the chance to restock supplies and bring some items that will be helpful before the long winter.

…not sure what we’re supposed to do Friday other than hang around and take in the atmosphere…all the listed activities seem very similar to those we’ve done before…either on the first college visit or the move in day.

Enjoy your weekend. We’ll just look at the marathon as an added event we can take in.
