Would it be a foolish idea to major in criminology at UCI or
major in Sociology and minor in forensic at USC?
and then later…get a nursing degree at cal state?
it would be wasting money probably. rite??

i want to major in criminology and nursing…but i can’t do two of them at once…
and i want to attend UC schools or USC…T-T

If you want to go into forensic nursing, get a nursing degree first, then get specialty training. First, the nursing degree will give you an employable field in which you can find work in multiple settings/locations while you pursue advanced training; second, if you go into forensic nursing, an undergrad degree in criminology will add to your practice skills prior to getting a nursing degree, but advanced training after a nursing degree will build on your nursing training and experience; third, there’s very little you can do in the field based on an undergrad degree in criminology, even if you get a nursing degree later; it is the nursing degree that will give you some professional standing, credibility, and expertise. Of course, I wouldn’t expect that you could do much requiring forensic expertise in any case until have some significant nursing experience. So, my advice would be to get a nursing degree, then get some experience, then get qualified as a nurse practitioner and get some advanced training in forensic nursing.

So it would be better to major in nursing first and go beyond that. rite??
Thank you for replying!

^In my opinion, yes.
