Hi, I was wondering if UC Santa Barbara had a nursing program. I’m really bummed that I didn’t get into Irvine, and Santa Barbara is the best school that I got into. I’m pretty sure SB doesn’t have a nursing program, but do they have prerequisites that I could take there, and then transfer later on to Irvine?

Also, for roommates, are we allowed to specify what kind of roommate we want or is it random?

when you apply for housing, they have you fill out an questionaire which they use to match you up with your roommate should you get one or two. questions on it are like i’m okay with a smoker/drinker; i like to go to sleep before 11p.m.: true/false. stuff like that. OR you can choose to pick your roommate if you know them beforehand, you simply put down the same choices on the questionaire and housing request, and each others name on the list. however, it is recommended you don’t request to live with a friend from back home because just because you are friends, doesn’t mean you’ll like each other when you’re spending more time together. past results tend to show that friends who room together turn out to hate each other in the end. there are topics on CC that show this–too lazy to find this.

My understanding is that UCSB students can take some nursing classes at SB City College, as well as other science classes, etc, at UCSB. It seems that some kids eventually transfer to a school with nursing (but it’s VERY competitive now) or just finish their degree at UCSB and apply to nursing school afterwards. It’s a tough school to leave early, given the beautiful location and crazy social scene.
