NY Times article about dangerous hazing at Binghamton U.

<p>As a long-ago Bing. alumna with a h.s. junior daughter who will apply to Binghamton, I would love to get feedback from students there.</p>

<p>The Times coverage is exaggerated. Were there issues? Sure, like any other campus. Is it all over the place? No. It’s there in a few groups that are underground and not sanctioned by the university, as well as one or two recognized fraternities that most likely have had issues in the past. Some of the cited orgs (APES) are not recognized, but are presented as though they are. Other orgs are cited in the Press and Sun bulletin but do not deserve the negative publicity. </p>

<p>I think it’s rather unfair that the Times picks Binghamton and not schools like Cornell where there have been fatalities and where the Greek culture is far more permeating.</p>
