@mom22039 I think it’s great that your friend is doing that, I have friends acting as trustee of the parental trust and in some cases they are comfortable taking a fee and in others, jut don’t feel like it is worth the reaction. It can be a tough line.
We had that situation, the house had originally belong to three sisters. My mother and her sister bought every out except one cousin who gets one week. My Mom got seven weeks, her sister got seven weeks. But now in our generation we are up to eight families again. And of course i could get worse. My aunt wants to set up a trust to give it away to a nature preserve with us being able to use it for 20 years. My mother died before anything got put in writing and my brothers and I are not at all sure what we want to do. The taxes are ridiculously high for the house (which we call The Shack for a reason.)
