NYC CCers - Quick Restaurant Question

I’m looking for a restaurant suggestion for a group of about 16-18 adults for this Saturday night in Manhattan. Preferably on the East Side (midtown to UES), casual, almost any type of cuisine is fine. I haven’t lived in NY for a long time and don’t know of anyplace. My sister suggested Cafe D’Alsace, but we couldn’t get a reservation there. Hoping someone out there can help us out! Thank you!

http://www.trattoriatrecolori.com/</a></p>

Trattoria Trecolori on 47th very close to Times Square. Italian, modest price. Ask if you can have a table upstairs. I’ve been there a number of times, and even with a group from CC!

We had a nice meal recently at [Kellari Taverna NYC, Greek restaurant, fresh seafood, New York City Catering, Weddings, Receptions, Corporate Events](http://www.kellari.us/). It’s on 44th between 5th and 6th Ave. The pre-theater menu was excellent. They are particularly good at fish, but they have other choices.

This is my favorite NYC restaurant. They have a back room where they put large parties. You aren’t big enough, however, to get the entire room. Only downside is aucoustics aren’t great and it can get loud. Food, however, makes up for it!

[Avra Estiatorio](http://avrany.com)

One of my favorites. It’s on 9th Ave and between 49th-50th (or 48th-49th) Don’t know if they have a back room for large parties.

[HELL’S KITCHEN - Progressive Mexican Cuisine](http://www.hellskitchen-nyc.com/about.html)

Ha! You beat me to it Thumper! Trattoriatrecolori is a real gem. I once took a group of 25 people there. They have a small menu options for groups that’s really good and will accommodate vegetarians too.

thumper - this is so funny…one of the last couple of times I’ve been to NY (probably about 2 or 3 years ago) I ate dinner at Tre Colori. It was really good! I’ll also check out the other suggestions (I love Greek food, so those two are definite possibilities.) Any others? As I mentioned, would strongly prefer East Side (more convenient for most), so any other suggestions for that area?
Thanks!

I recommend Shun Lee Palace on E. 55th St.

Thanks, guys! I’ll suggest these to the organizer of our group and see if she can get a reservation. I’ll report back and let you know how it goes.

Great place for a large group - food is great - right near times square and it is inside an old church:

[John’s Pizzeria](http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com/)

Since you are looking for UES, Times Square doesn’t seem like a very convenient choice–hope Shun Lee Palace works out, since food is tasty and not daunting. I don’t know Tre Colori but location sounds right for your purposes. Have fun.

Mattmom…Trecolori is right off Times Square.

To the OP…where are you going to be…what street?

I misread posts–it was Kellari that was not too far west.

Avra is E 48th between 3rd & lex - easy walk from Grand Central or 51st/Lex subway. Dinner crowd are locals, not tourists. Prices are reasonable (for NYC!) and quality is great.

Supposedly where Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan has having birthday dinner w his family when he got the call from Bear Stearns asking them to take them over.

[Bits and Morsels dines with The Times](http://www.newyorksocialdiary.com/node/1375551/print)

My elegant aunt uses Open Table to find out who has available reservations. It saves her a lot of phoning around, and she discovers new places, too.

I see there’s also a function to find “group tables.”

I hope it helps!

nj2011, we just love Avra. Especially in the summer when they open the front french doors and have that little outside space. Terrific food!

Any suggestions for a good place for a party of 12 near the Battery Park/ 9/11 memorial area? All vegetarians - usually prefer Italian, Mexican or Indian.

For Italian Gigino at Wagner Park or Inatteso. Gigino will get you nice views of the Statute of Liberty if you can get a table with with views and Gigino is an upscale neighborhood Italiian with very good food.
