NYC meet-up March 11, 2025

Several of us who met last year have been conversating via DM about a meet-up on September 17. Of course there is no day that everyone can make it, but we’re trying for that day, with an additional meetup after the winter holidays. Join us as we finalize our plans!

The post holiday season meet-up is more likely to work for me. But I’ll keep an eye on the Sept. plans and see if I can make it.

Keeping an eye on this one; my family is in NY

BooHoo, just checked calendar and I have appts. both the 17th and 18th. I look forward to the ‘after the holidays’ gathering.

So who IS coming besides @oldmom4896 and me??

@VeryHappy, I’d be delighted to meet you for lunch, but if most potential attendees want to postpone, that’s ok too! I live here (close enough to Grand Central/Penn Station etc.) and take the subway all the time so it works either way or both.

I’d love to meet you too, but it is a schlep for me from CT. Let’s see who else responds.

I can’t commit but small chance I could be a very last minute yes. Please don’t plan around me. December is more likely (and Tuesdays are particularly easy for me).

I can do Sept 17, but I’ll be around in December as well.

I’d be happy to meet anyone who can make it on the 27th. We can plan something bigger in 2025.

The 27th? Or the 17th

Whoops! The 17th. Or whenever one of you wants to meet. I have a long list of Manhattan restaurants I’d love to try, or if someone is driving in, Brooklyn and Queens places.

A new soup dumpling place, very close to Radio City

I’m not in New York, but in Southern California. I just wanted to comment that if you have never been to Din Tai Fung it is amazing. I have one near me and love eating there.

Interesting DTF soup dumpling tidbits here.

Since I schlepped my daughter to daycare, pre-k and Kindergarten to 5th grade in Manhattan’s Chinatown, I have a local favorite (Deluxe Green Bo on Pell St between Elizabeth and Mott). But I am certainly interested in trying a new place!

lol, my place noted above = 8 soup dumplings for $9, at least the last time I was there. Places in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where I live are similarly priced.

Not going to get that price at Din Tai  They are also swamped right now with the NYC location all over social media - unsure if you could even get a table. Personally, I think NYC has a lot of better options (as someone that has dined at din tai in Asia and on the west coast a lot) - still like Din Tai, but not the hassle and preplanning involved!

I probably won’t be able to make it :frowning:
