Does anyone remember what the train conductors say at each stop, more specifically the Canal Street station?

It’s somewhere along the lines of this:

“This is Canal Street station. Transfer is available to the N, Q, R, J, M, Z, 4, 5, and 6 trains on the upper level. Stand clear of the closing doors please.”

Sounds about right to me. Some announcemnts are automated and always identical, others are ad libbed by actual human conductors. I’ve heard one say,
“This station is Times Square, you can chage here for anywhere. This is the center of the universe. Stand clear of the closing doors please.”

I have to write an introduction for my english essay about my neighborhood and how it shaped my life. So I want to begin my introduction with that quotation.

Growing up in a fast-paced city shaped my life by building upon my self-awareness so that I am able to be more aware of the dangers in life any place I go.

This is the beginning of my conclusion. My question is more about the second sentence though. Is it saying that I scalp and steal from others, or is scalping and stealing the “behaviors around me?” If the former is the case, how can I make it sound like scalping and stealing are the “behaviors around me” in that sentence? Thanks.

I think it’s really ambigious, because my friend said it sounds like scalping and stealing are reffering the the “strategies.” But I changed it. Can you guys tell me if this makes more sense? It is part of my conclusion. I think I need to add a few more sentences to it. But in the meantime, that’s all I have for now.
