NYU Abu Dhabi

I applied as well for ED I and i still didn’t get any invitations :frowning: im freaking out a lot. im basically having nightmares everyday
do you guys know when exactly they will stop sending invitations?

@ayashry 26 November

Oh sorry! I thought I had written RD. oops! Would I be in the same invitation pool as other RD applicants despite my nomination/earlier sending?

Has anyone received an invite this week? :frowning:
Really freaking me out.

Hi there,
i live in japan and i was nominated +applied ED. i know i have 5 more days to receive my invitation but im so nervous!
has anyone from japan/taiwan received an invitation, or know of anyone who has?

Did anyone get a refusal already?

Hello guys! Those who has already got their CW invitations, can you tell me, were all the items checked in your Application Status on Albert page by the time you received them?

@GlobalDolphin, as far as I know, you will only be allowed to participate in the March Candidate Weekend. However, if you can’t make it, you should e-mail the AdCom before the second (not the third) Candidate Weekend, so that you can be considered for the second CW. But really, I’m a seven-teen year old. What would I know. Always double check with AdCom.

@girlfrombudapest, I’m not sure if they would send in refusals this early on. The NYUAD website says that the acceptance/rejection letter will be sent out on the 15th of December.

@osamasayegh, If you are given full financial aid, you basically pay nothing (in fact, they will pay YOU every 3 months for spending money AND you get dining dirhams). I don’t know the income cut-line for financial aid, but I do know that a vast majority of the students receive full financial aid. NYUAD is a very, very generous school.

To just add to what @unfathomable said, my friend Henry is in his second year at NYUAD and someone in one of his classes gets full financial aid despite the fact his dad bought an island ( from the sounds of it the island wasn’t huge - but he still had to be fairly rich!)
I don’t know if the same will apply to the class of 2017 but it sounds like the financial aid cut off is very high! When the representative came to our school to give the talk three years ago, she said the only people who were likely to pay anything were literally the sons/daughters of millionaires, lets hope she’s right!

@unfathomable i meant it as did anyone receive an e-mail that he/she is NOT invited to the Candidate Weekend? I meant this by refusal sorry for being innacurate :)

Well I’ll call them in a few weeks and ask them!

@IndubitableMe Yes, all my boxes were ticked when I received my invitation. Please keep positive. You really never know when it could come. :slight_smile:

@osamasayegh They’re both right. Financial aid is amazingly generous (covering both tuition and living costs), hence the impossibly high number of applications every year since the school’s inception. :)

And as always, I have been praying for all of you: for your happiness, success, and patience. I came upon a great quote the other day - “If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” Not all of us will end up at NYU Abu Dhabi. But there is no doubt in my mind that each one of us will lay the foundation to build our metaphorical castle, whether that be at NYUAD or wherever else life takes us. :)

Can u guys tell me at what time in UAE did u receive your invitations?

Have any of you guys received e-mails back from NYUAD after you sent in your necessary forms for the Candidate Weekend? I sent my forms in a week ago, but I still haven’t heard anything yet. I don’t know any of the travel logistics.
I know that the website tells us not to worry if we don’t hear from them for a week or longer, but another line says that if we screw up, our CW invitation may be jeopardized.

@unfathomable
I haven’t heard anything yet either!

havent recieved yet…!

@unfathomable @LizaTB Doesn’t it say something along the lines of, ‘our silence is a good sign’? I don’t know, I’m sure they would have contacted us if something wasn’t correct.

Don’t worry, people. They do say something along the lines of ‘our silence is a good sign’. Also, I think they’ll contact us about the ticket 7 days prior to 6th December, and about the visa 4 days prior to departure.

Hey guys! Has anybody received a CW this week?

I wish luck to everybody. You all can do it.
“Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.”

judging by the fact that no one here on CC posted that they have been invited for the past 3-4 day, maybe they haven’t sent out the second round of invitations, what do yo guys think?
