Guys, everybody, let us know when you hear anything from NYUAD!

I know most of you probably don’t care, but I won’t be heading to the December Candidate Weekend. I got an email from NYU this morning explaining that my passport had some problems. But they have been more than gracious and given me a spot on the January 31st - February 3rd Candidate Weekend, giving me enough time to take care of my passport issues.

I wish all of my fellow ED1’ers all the best. To those of you who’ve gotten your invitations, congratulations and I regret the fact that I won’t be able to meet all of you next week. And for those of you who are still waiting, good luck and as always, my prayers are with you. :)

Hey guys, I have got a mail from NYUAD officer and she said they will send invitation till mid-december. I dont know what that means coz CW is 6-9 December.

i was applying to the early decision I but i didn’t get any reply yet either.Well maybe some problems occured according to the recent happenings in NYC
I can’t wait to get my e-mail even if they refuse me i just want to be sure about the thing…
Please let me know if you have any information about the application-invitation process!
Fingers crossed for you guys!
And remember, until you don’t get any email you still have the same chance!

@FrancaiseLove Aww man, I was really looking forward to meeting you on the ED1 CW! Seriously hoping we both get in so I can meet/see you next September :)

@ ahtesham does it mean that there will be more than one candidate weekends?

@Francaise Love, I was really looking forward to seeing you

Is it an issue with all citizens of Pakistan or is there an issue with you specifically?

@FrancaiseLove, oh man, I really wish the best for you. It’s such a bummer that your passport had to get in the way. I hope we can meet in 2013!

@LizaTB @osamasayegh and anybody else, have you guys received an email with your travel logistics yet? I don’t know if I should email AdCom again, because I’m still waiting for mine to come.
Man, I can’t believe the CW is already next week!

@LizaTB @osamasayegh @unfathomable Aww, I was looking forward to meeting you guys too! We’ll all see each other next September though, if all goes well.

Well my passport was water damaged, and it had to be replaced by a handmade passport issued from the Pakistani Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The thing is, UAE immigration only allows for Pakistani nationals to have machine readable passports. It turns out that I need to go back to Pakistan to get my new passport and that takes around two weeks. So the issue is specifically with me, not all Pakistani nationals fortunately. :)

did anyone from Russia received an invitation?

@taiwanforever did you hear back from the Admissions office yet, saying whether all of the invites have been sent out?
gaah its torturous waiting for the unknown, how are you people holding up?

@unfathomable, Unfortunately, not yet. I’M REALLY ANXIOUS AND ANNOYED!
Can’t wait any longer. We shall receive them 7 days in advance so the deadline is Thursday, the 29th which means we’ll definitely have them before the weekend.

@AsemZh nope, havent heard back, which i think is rather odd, since they always replied so quickly before… i’ve only got just a tiny bit of hope left. even started my other apps just in case.
the suspense is killing me, i would like to know if i didn’t make it so i dont have to spend all this time worrying!

@RussianGun well, I did not yet
Do you know anybody who did?

@taiwanforever well thanks for keeping us updated anyway. and yes, its so hard just to sit here and wait.
although, i am still quite convinced that no one has received an invite since the first round back on the 16-19th. but thats just my guess, what do you guys think, or do you know anyone who got their invitations after the dates i mentioned?

Has anybody here also applied to NY campus?

@unfathomable @osamayegh I haven’t heard anything either, it’s annoying but I’m trusting that we’ll hear about thursday! Also what sort of clothes are you guys bringing? If I was going to an interview in England I would wear a suit skirt but this is a very different scenario, obviously I’m going to bring clothes appropriate to the culture but I really don’t know how smart to be!

@FrancaiseLove Definitely friend!

@AsemZh From the sounds of it the only invites that we know of so far were all issued on the 19th, does this sounds right to everyone else? Obviously allowing for time differences, I think @FrancaiseLove and I found out at the same time?! It seems odd considering we all thought it would be done in batches Maybe keeps the hope alive that were will be more?

judging from what we know, there has only been one ‘batch’ so there is a good chance that there are more invites to come. well keeping fingers crossed here either way, and it would be a thousand times easier if the admissions office responds to @taiwanforever soon enough.

@LizaTB if you havent been to abu dhabi before, it IS as hot as everyone describes it, but the air is very humid, which makes the heat rather bearable, so i would suggest if you are bringing something smart, it would be good if its also of light fabric. And also there is A/C practically everywhere, so it tends to get slightly chilly indoors, so maybe a light jacket over something even lighter? hope that helps:)

to those wondering about what to get, its best if you get something thats just a little heavy because winter is approaching in AD. my sister is an NYUAD student and i live in UAE. in her candidate weekend, there was this party in the presidential palace so they were asked to wear some semi formal. im sure they will be telling you this in a letter. but make sure you do get something semi formal coz in her CW there were 2 who wore casual clothes and i think one of the teachers was mad at them for it D:

well i haven’t got an invitation yet but im still a bit hopeful. even though my marks are nothing to proud of. along with that i also have dyslexia and ADD which isn’t really in my favour because im sure there were a lot of spelling mistakes in my application
praying for all of you and im sure you will all find whats best for you eventually even if its not NYUAD :)

“We have completed the selection process for our December 6-9 Candidate Weekend. All Early Decision I applicants will receive an admission decision in mid-December.”

The end.
