<p>I knowww I’ve been counting down too! One more slow week to go before we start seeing which lucky souls get the precious CW invitations!!!</p>
<p>YEP!
I was very excited about getting the results and I am still counting days till NYUAD starts sending out the results, but I have so many exams in school at this point of time that I barely have any time to feel anything about all of this. I think that it is really great, because otherwise I would have gotten way too nervous :D</p>
<p>WAIT! When do we hear back about ed 2?? what date exactly?</p>
<p>Well for CW, we (ed2 applicants) should find out by mid jan (12-15th) or end of jan/beginning of feb. and final admission decisions for us will be out by February 15th!</p>
<p>So christianspirit, do you think I should submit my IB score even with that 4 in English?</p>
<p>linting2012,</p>
<p>Follow your heart. If there is time to get better scores then get them, if you think that you cannot do any better then submit your scores now.
NYUAD says that they do not have cutting score but average has to be at least 83% if you want to get in as I was told by an official who came to my school and represented NYU. These people rarely tell us about the statistics and if they do than it will not be done on official lines. I was given some information because I knew from the beginning of 11th grade that I wanted to get in to NYUAD and I was battling my own self to get better marks. English is not my native language and in 2008 I ended up moving to an English school abroad with a vocabulary of 200 words! I survived and I said no to lot’s of things just to get better scores, learn English and involve myself in NGOs, etc.
If you do apply-I wish you best of luck!
You can also write TOEFL. That might help.</p>
<p>Is anybody from Russia or Ukraine is planning to apply or have already applied to NYUAD and is a member of CC?</p>
<p>Will only ED2 applicants be invited to the CW in January?</p>
<p>CW is in Feb not in Jan. Yes, only ED2 applicants are applicable to be invited to it and some people from ED1 as well but that is a separate case.</p>
<p>Thanks, to everyone on this thread for the great info but also for making me feel under qualified at the same time lol</p>
<p>BeatTheSystem, I think that all of us feel intimidated here. It’s natural
I, know how it sounds but try not to worry. Watch movies or engage in some hobby. It really helps! :D</p>
<p>That’s the plan Christina! I just wish I knew about the nominations cause I deffinetly would’ve done really well on that essay! (:</p>
<p>It’s not an essay. It’s a student writing assignment.</p>
<p>Here it is:</p>
<p>Student Writing Assignment:
In 500 words or fewer (one page single-spaced), please describe a research
project that you might undertake as an NYU Abu Dhabi student to gain a
deeper understanding of one particular topic of interest to you in the United
Arab Emirates (UAE). Please use the information at the UAE Interact website
([UAE</a> News and information - United Arab Emirates](<a href=“http://www.uaeinteract.com/]UAE”>http://www.uaeinteract.com/)) for ideas. Pose a research question (in
one sentence) and describe how you would gather information to answer
your question. Discuss possible obstacles that might arise in your research as
well as any ethical dimensions of the research to which you would need to be
attentive.</p>
<p>Nomination is just one of the elements of application. Most of the people who got into NYUAD never got nominated. That’s ok. Do not worry! :)</p>
<p>Where are you from by the way?</p>
<p>Alright, thanks!
And I’m from America but I’m Pakistani too
What about you?</p>
<p>I am native Ukrainian ( with Russian heritage) who lives in India. I came here in 2008 . Long story
Did you write SAT?</p>
<p>That’s awesome(:
And yes I did
590 CR
670 Math
670 Writing
Did you?</p>
<p>No, I did not. I completed maths potion but English was too much for me. I started learning English only in 2008 and I came to India with a vocabulary of 200 words.
My statistics at school is ok but I went from nearly failing all of my subjects in 8th grade to getting 83.5% in 12th. I do not know what NYUAD may say about such statistics but I am proud of myself and I hope that they will appreciate my achievements! I did however a lot of extracurricular related activities. From winning at art competitions at Asia’s largest inter school fiesta to publishing my own art book, reconnecting people with nature ( NGO) and training horses with psychological problems at the same time.
IDK. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that things will hopefully work out for me.
All I can do now is wait, although time is killing me to some extent.</p>
<p>That’s a pretty incredible story. Thay’ll deffinetly look at your situation so chill out and “engage in some movies and hobbies” to help (:
As for my situation, my grades weren’t the best but I took really rigorous classes and did really well my last 2 semesters.
I too was involved in an NGO and I taught in Kenya for 1 month while only eating 1 meal a day (I’m hoping that’ll help!) and I led my mosque for a year and have a few other extra curriculars
Waiting is clearly the worst part, it’s 10X worse than completing the app but take a deep breath! You’ll be fine (:</p>
<p>That’s incredible!
I do not need to engage in any hobbies now. I have tests going on in my school, so I am either studying or sleeping.By the time all of this will get over NYUAD will release their results :)</p>
<p>thanks a lot by the way! I wonder if I am the only one who counts down the days on calendar till NYUAD will release the results with regard to CW. :D</p>
