NYU Abu Dhabi

you are most welcome!!! :D

Hey guys! LOL i’ve spent a LOT of time trying to read all 147 pages in this forum. I’m just soooo anxious to know if I’ll get in! I applied ED2 and I live in Tanzania but I’m an American born in Dubai… The uncertainty is killing me!

Heeyy Keely  we’re like neighbours! Lol, I’m from Kenya!! And also applied ED2… Really freaking out coz haven’t heard anything from the uni… Really anxious, want to get in so bad!

Haha. Looks like all the ED2 people are appearing on the radar
Keely786, I’ve also read all the 146 pages before I responded to the thread . haha
IDk if I am correct, bt apparently we have 11 days till NYU starts inviting us to CW ( Indian EST).
Keeping my fingers crossed
Good luck guys!!!
Am I the only one who thinks that completing common application was nothing in comparison to what we have to endure now, just by not knowing as to what future is keeping for all of us?

Keely, your name reminds me of the hottest dwarf in the hobbit lol. And yeah i guess we’ll hear from them soon, don’t worry y’all! <3

ManziWaNairobi yes we are like neighbors!
christinaspirit initially I was just gonna stay quiet and stalkerishly read all the posts :stuck_out_tongue: But then I thought what if I get invited for CW, I would love to meet people who I have previously interacted with here on CC!! It’d be so much fun to match usernames with the faces right?!
If you think about it, the 12th isnt that far away but our days are going by sooo damn slowllyyyyy… and NO you aren’t the only one! this uncertainty about wether or not our next four years will be at NYUAD is MUCH more of a killer then filling out commonapp.
hsawok lol i’m a girl!

You guys my application and forms were downloaded by NYU on 1/2/12, does your commonapp show the same date too?

haha well that’s awkward, mine said that they were downloaded on the 10th of december, but that’s probably cos i sent it in really early. and yeah it would be grand to meet everyone xx

Hello everybody !!! Just trying to stay hopeful. My name is Chisom from Nigeria. Lived there all my life. This is my second time applying to NYU abu dhabi really hope that I get in.

second time? did they give you feedback last year? and dude best of luck, you must really want it xxx

HAHA  Keely, I thought you were a boy!
I have not checked my application status because I got a mail from NYU main campus saying that they received my application some two weeks after I have sent it in. I also received my Albert on the same day, so from my point of view they downloaded my form a while ago.
About Albert… I have a problem with my password. I opened it, a couple of times but it haven’t worked for me yesterday.
I joined CC in march but I realized that I could not stay quite for any longer. I want to be a part of this experience! I think that I have read all of the possible threads about NYUAD since 2011!
Keely, I completely agree with you- if we indeed get invited to CW it would be cool to match our faces with CC usernames! <3 ( love) you all

Hey Guys, I applied for NYU AD from Egypt as ED2, hope I get in and meet u guys in CW.
I have a question regarding financial support, can I send my financial documents in my native language?

Hi, naagla!

I do not think that financial documents are required for NYUAD, at least for now. NYU does inquire the documents at some point of time, I do not know when. If at all NYU will ask us for financial statement it will be only after CW. My school said that it’s not required now. Correct me if I am wrong

Regular decision applicants have until march, but the deadline to submit financial aid documents for RD2 is January 15th. Although the website says that for NYUAD it’s not compulsory since its need-blind, but it’s recommended to fill them out and send it. I’m not sure if you can submit it in your native language, you should contact NYUAD financial support. Hope this helps:)

Hi everyone

I just want to know when is NYU ABUDHABI’s last examination deadline. Is January the last testing session or is it December? Besides, if I sent my IB scores right now, do you think they will accept it? Another question is that is a 40 point in IB diploma (7 in Math, Phy, Chem Hl, and Spanish B Sl. 6 in History Sl and a very bad 4 in English A1) going to help my chance or decrease it?

It is very urgent. Please help

Heyy, i think you should sent them in, for the most part they are really good like all the 7s. However, do you have any other results that have higher marks in English? If not, then I’m not too sure about that 4. Thing is though, you’re not allowed to emit a result so it’s either all or none. The choice is up to you, just thought I’d give my honest opinion =D

I’m waiting on a score which I’ll recieve next week and I’m gonna send that it, if it’s good enough lol!

Best of luck xx

I got my SAT which is 2170 with 700 in Reading and 670 in Writing which I already submitted. Along with SAT II which is 800 in Math, Phy, Chem and Chinese Reading. I am just not sure that my IB score will lower my chances. Since I already have all the requirements

BTW thanks. And good luck to you too

I hate when people post their stats because I feel so intimidated

Hi. Hsawok!

I can you one thing which I was told by representative of NYU a while ago. I do not know if that’s your case. If English is not your native language then getting low marks for this subject is ok, however your marks should not fall bellow 83-84% overall. If you are sending your scores and they are in 80s then you should have lot’s of extracurricular records. I do not want to say all that I have achieved on CC because people will get intimidated, actually all of us do. Getting just good marks is not good enough to get in NYUAD, they need a whole package of leadership record, extracurricular records, personal statements, letters of recommendation, etc. Marks is just one of thee dimensions which they will be looking at. If you get less marks in one dimension the other one might save you, but there is no reason to compare our scores with people who got in NYUAD last year, because according to NYUAD representative with whom I’ve been talking- stats vary depending on people who apply to the institution each year.
I think that all of us have a great story to tell! Isn’t it?
There are 3 application deadlines. ED1 and ED2 for early decision and Regular decision for the other candidates. As per nomination process- it ended in December.
I hope that my info was helpful.

Hey yeah thanks for the info, but I don’t think that the English thing is aimed at me lol maybe Linting2013. I’m British and I have A*s in first language English lang and Lit so that shouldn’t be a problem xx

Rest of your marks are good so it should go just fine as you said  GOOD LUCK!!!

8 days are left before NYUAD starts releasing results of those people who will get invited to CW ( Indian EST)

How do you feel about such news, guys?
