NYU Abu Dhabi

Anyone knows when will the invitations for ED1 applicants be released?

I remembered last year the last date was Nov. 22…

Hi, I received my invite to the December Candidate Weekend last week!!!..and it said that we will all get the fight details and other final information the week before - which is next week…so I’m not to sure of the final release date

If you got it last week, I’m almost sure that all invitations has been sent and we have no chances.
Anyway, Good Luck to you!

It seems that there is no chance for CW now. Just focuse on other schools. Good luck to all of you!

Has anyone who got invited to the Candidate Weekend received any follow up emails especially to do with travel yet? It’s only 10 days to go so we should hear pretty soon, right? Out of curiosity, how long are people’s flights? I think mine’s gonna be 9 hours which isn’t too bad (I’m English but currently living in and travelling from China!)

Hi @vickyness, I haven’t received any follow up email yet, but they did say we will approximately receive one a week before we fly out. I’m from London (UK) and my flight to Abu Dhabi is roughly 7 hours. But I am ever so excited for this amazing experience!

If anyone has any questions about Abu Dhabi as a place to live or visit, you can ask me. I live here and will also be at the candidate weekend in two days :)

Guys what are your thoughts if I have SAT of 1900, GPA 10/10? Any chances?

Hey guys! If you want to read more about what NYUAD is like you should read thegazelle.org and like The Gazelle’s Facebook page: <a href=ā€œThe Gazelleā€>The Gazelle;
Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheGazelleAD</a>
Instagram: <a href=ā€œThe Gazelle (@thegazelle_ad) • Instagram photos and videosā€>http://instagram.com/thegazelle_ad</a></p>

It’s a really good chance to discover more about the student experience. Also I’m a sophomore student so feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

@LizaaTB I love the Gazelle. It’s a fab insight into my dream uni.
Also, I was wondering if NYUAD is very stats driven? I have a good SAT, but my grades in a particular class are a but lacking. Are essays as important, if not more, than scores alone?
Thanks!! :)

There’s no feeling like the feeling of acceptance. NYUAD class of 2019… come at me.

@sarrahhdaherrā€Œ I can relate to that feels. Just got my CW invite on 22nd jan and i’m going on the 5th Feb. Hope to see other fellow ED II applicants there.

!!! @f4zez4pp3rā€Œ That’s so exciting! Good luck and remember to really enjoy it  If you have any questions about Candidate Weekend or Abu Dhabi life feel free to ask away (I live in Abu Dhabi). Again, good luck gahhhh I know you can do this.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this thread for a very long time now and it has been a very inspiring source of motivation for me.

My attempt to get into NYUAD was truly a life-changing experience. A lot happened along the way that both encouraged me to keep trying and that stopped me from making it there. By the end of it, the journey left me with a unique story that I really wanted to share with the world.

From the hundreds of posts that I have read here about the stresses of applications and Candidate Weekends and all of the associated excitement, I thought this would be the perfect place to share the news of my recently-published book, ā€˜Deferred: My Extraordinary Journey to New York University Abu Dhabi’.

It describes what drew me to NYU Abu Dhabi, the reasons that made it genuinely special for me, and the tough challenges in my personal life that made attending the school increasingly difficult. The book took years to come together and my hope is that it brings the same sort of drive to people who want to get into university as this thread has.

If you’re at all interested in it, you can copy-paste the title above into Facebook or into Amazon; the latter lets you read the first 10% to get a feel of what my particular story is all about.

A big thank you to everyone who has participated in this thread over the years for sharing your thoughts, stats, and feelings about NYUAD so earnestly. I sincerely wish everyone—past, present, and future—the very best of luck with their university endeavors,
Michael.

Time to make this thread active again.
