NYU Abu Dhabi

hey murtaza , When do u think they will start mailing students to attend the CW for the last of Feb ?

oho, CC has added a new function to search threads by selecting words =)

@Bana93 – Invites for a particular CW are usually sent 2 weeks prior to the week with the CW, so according to that, invites for the 2nd CW of Feb will be sent prolly in early Feb (around Feb. 4, 5 precisely)

@NewYorkUAD – searching forums by words? I think that’s an old function since I’ve tried it before.

@murtaza101 ===
oh really? I have just noticed it… Just to check, do you mean the ā€˜ā€˜search’’ in the top of the page?
if yes, I meant by just selecting words in the post, try to select one word and magnifier will appear…

two weeks prior would be feb 10, 12, etc!!

you’d hear after the first set got back. so I would estimate 10th.

sorry it was 3 weeks back, so it’s around Feb. 4-5 instead of Feb. 10

hey murtaza , u said u applied to NYUAD before and they turned you down right. so did they give u any explanation for their decision or do u know the reason ?

No they didn’t, apparently in most cases, universities don’t give out reasons for rejection. But I’m through it for the good, I’ve took a lot of might to reapply again, and I hope all goes well this time :)

That is great, murtaza101, that you’re reapplying. That’s what I will do next year if I don’t receive an invite for the second cw :smiley:
It would be nice if they would let us know what we could work on to make our application better. I’ve been thinking about taking the SAT again to get a better score. Does anybody have any other ideas that might help us strengthen our application?

at asha18117 how are your SAT scores ?

so my counselor got a text about the flight information today. but I didn’t get it… does this mean that she’s coming to the CW too? i’m sorry if this question sounds stupid :p

Nick - normally no, only students are at the CW. I assume she is to pass it on to you, though I can’t imagine why. Also, you normally don’t find out your flight details until a week before (well, that was how it went for me anyway- I found out Dec 1 for a Dec 9 departure).

@kiwikid oh I’m sorry it happened she had mistaken it… she hadn’t got the info about the flight yet :slight_smile: thanks for the info!!! :)

@Asha18117 – Well there is not just one thing to focus on in your app, in general you have to be well-rounded. But suppose for example you excel in one say extracurriculars, then you’d have to balance it by decent scores for example.

Hey Guys)
Im invited for the CW 3-6 Feb! Yayy) So excited, hope to get in)
Im from Russia, btw)
And i have questions about CW- what r the topics for reflecting writings, interview and other challenges they have for us? I know there will be 3 different essay tasks right? what exactly r they?

Thank you

Hey, derzesssa! Congrats on the invite. May I ask when did you receive the e-mail?

@Bana93 and murtaza101
I am from Croatia, and I took the SAT only once and I got a total of 1810. I thought that was a decent score until I saw that most of the people who applied got >2000 so I am definitely thinking about taking the test again and studying more to get a higher score.

My grades are high, I passed the two first grades of high school with an excellent grade (in the Croatian grade system) and I was one of three students from Croatia to get a scholarship to study in America. I attended an independent preparatory high school, took some advanced classes (Honors and AP) and had a GPA of 3.917. I’ve done a lot of extracurricular activities there, like JV and Varsity sports, was a member of many school clubs and I’ve been involved in acting since I was 8 and took a lot of classes both here and in America and attended festivals. I’ve also acted in numerous plays, and I got a big role in the American school play. I volunteered and did community service with the church there and here with the Red Cross. I also went to an exchange program to France in Middle school and I was awarded the best student of the generation award by my Elementary/Middle school (grades 1-8). I did a lot of language and other competitions (both regional and national level), wrote articles for the school newspaper and successfully completed NaNoWriMo (it’s a great thing :D). There is some more stuff, but I don’t wanna make this post too detailed, it’s very long as it is.

I really believe I have that sense of global citizenship and it is something I want to pursue in my life, I want to become a global citizen :), but I think that I might not have represented that well enough in my application, so maybe that’s what I should pay better attention to next time.
Since I did not yet graduate from high school I had no matura exams to submit, so I went and took the December SAT, but next year I will have completed the matura too, so I will submit both.
Do you guys have any other ideas on what I should focus and how I could improve?

Thanks in advance for all your advice :smiley: I am so happy I found this forum, I find it very helpful.

@Asha18117 – Well I’ll just say that BE YOURSELF! Your stats are amazing but don’t worry about them, just be positive and hope for the best, that’s all you need. That’s all what we ALL need :D

NYU has finally released its ED/EDII/RD statistics! I find it quite interesting how NYU Abu Dhabi’s overall applicant number has significantly gone down compared to last year’s pool.
