bmraotwtn — You can message Erin by telling that your FB is from a different email address than what you put in for while making your application, she’ll acknowledge soon and give you the link then right away.

There were at least 7 students on the Chicago to Abu Dhabi flight; 2 or more out of California and at least one or 2 out of New York. It makes me feel that there were more than 100 students this weekend given the preponderance of non US students on the Facebook page prior to take-off.

On the February CW, we were actually told that there would be somewhere around 100 students on the March CW, so I’m not really surprised. Enjoy yourself by the way. It’s a fantastic experience.

So, how many people were on the March Candidate Weekend?

there was 96 (via my daughter)

That’s a lot! I wonder how many will be taken regular. I have a neighborhood friend who’s anxiously waiting :)

they have about 50 spots left. but they will probably be accepting like 70 to 80.

and there were like 40 RD at the second february candidate weekend.

Hello Everyone!

I am currently a Junior in high school that is extremely interested in applying to NYU AD next year. It looks like a wonderful place and I have probably spent too much time reading the posts in this thread instead of doing my work.

Anyways, I saw that nomination is very helpful to an application, and I had some questions about it. I thought that nominations could be done by your counselor at any school, but after reading through the website information, I saw that your school had to be a nominating partner to do so??? Can anyone clarify on this? If so, is there a list of these nominating partners available online?

Seems quite confusing to me, but I really wish to be nominated for NYU AD. If my school currently is not able to nominate me… I guess I have my work cut out for me. Hopefully there is a way to apply your school to become a nominating partner. I just really want to make my application as attractive as possible, and I think that a nomination might help in that aspect. Thank you for your time!

NYU AD also looks at directs applications from non- nominated schools and does admit a lot from this category too. Nominations are no guarantees to admissions as i have seen in the case of my son. Start early in preparations - all the best !

err ! thats a little confusing…my son was from a non-nom school & did get admitted!

I recommend you shoot an e-mail to NYUAD. They can provide you the most relevant information. As an aside, I think having good recommendations is the same as being nominated. I doubt it matters much, but it definitely can’t hurt. Go for it!

Definitely the best thing you can do is continue to work hard at your schoolwork and take full advantage of your high school experience. Don’t worry about the nominating process at all; honestly, I think that’s more for the university to recruit/select international students (of course, I’m assuming you’re from the U.S., haha). Since U.S. students have a more standardized college experience than all the different international students, as long as you prepare a strong application you have a good shot. I wasn’t nominated and was invited to a CW (RD applicant, too). In just a few days’ time we’ll see if I made a good enough impression to be admitted. Hope so! :)

Thank you all for your great responses! I will take them all into consideration. :D

I guess I was just getting a little greedy. I just wanted everything physically possible to get the edge in my application (after seeing the jaw dropping low acceptance rates and increasing amount of applicants…). NYU AD to me looks like what it probably is in reality, a fun filled oasis full of opportunity. I am really pumped for this application next year!

Good luck Telperien, I hope that you are admitted!

They are being emailed - check your mail!

yeah I hear there are out already!! Best of wishes to all those applying and I hope you can join the Class of 2015!

Thanks PeaMom and KiwiKid! I just checked my e-mail and I was accepted with all expenses paid. It’s incredible! Good luck to the rest of you and congrats to those of you already accepted. I’ll see you in Fall!

that’s great!! can’t wait to see you in the facebook group then. we have a small CC club there hehehe

@wesley, congrats!
Anyone else accepted?

I’m waitlisted.

I’m in! And I’m almost certain I’ll be going there. It’s a big risk and I know that I’ll be sacrificing a lot of the traditional college experience for this, but it’s simply too great of an opportunity academically and especially financially to pass up. I believe strongly in the vision that John Sexton has for building NYU, and I think it’s exciting to be a part of something so new even though it comes with many challenges.

It’s frustrating, though, that people don’t understand why I might choose to go to NYUAD. Many people in the U.S. think that Abu Dhabi and the UAE are equivalent to rural traditionalist Afghanistan or something, and that I’ll have to wear a burka everywhere. Not true, guys, just in case this was one of your reservations for applying.
