Hi CC I was wondering if you could help answer this question for me. I plan on applying to NYU Stern ED 1 this upcoming fall. If I get rejected or if I get deferred from Stern can I withdraw my application and then put it into consideration to the school of Arts and Sciences instead? Or is it if I apply business and I don’t get accepted I automatically get considered for the general campus? Thanks guys.

Try the NYU forum, but don’t ED unless you are comfortable with full pay.

NYU allows you to apply to one school/program.
You can’t have a first choice / second choice.
This is somewhat atypical, so chose carefully.
If you are a “I want to go to NYU no matter what” type of applicant, then you probably should apply to AandS.
If you are a “I really want to go to Stern, but if I can’t I still really want to go to NYU” type of applicant, and you’re not a clear match for Stern, you’re sort of in a bad position.

How strong an applicant to Stern would you be?

@soze I’m most likely on the lower end of the applicant pool, but I have a legacy at NYU (my mom graduated from there) and I don’t really want to go to AandS. If AandS were the best school I could attend then I’d go but I’d choose some of my other options over there like U Mich.

Alumni relation is only Considered - barely a tip factor in admissions. <a href=“Research with Human Subjects”>Research with Human Subjects; Are your parents willing to pay the $50K+/year for UMich, NYU, etc?

Yes my parents are willing to pay full price anywhere, and I just called the admissions office. I can apply to Stern ED and even if I don’t get in I still have time to apply to NYU A and S regular decision

But…
If you get deferred from Stern when you apply ED you’ll have to either withdraw your Stern application or forgo applying to arts and sciences.

They will not let you have applications pending for two schools.

And I think if you are outright denied at Stern you can’t apply to A&S.
